Sorry for the delay folks. I took my time to watch Chinnadana Neekosam. I actually didn't want to review the movie. But then I thought, why not. It mite give our folks a pointer or two.

We see Tollywood's newcomer Mishti as an urban Indian girl. Her dressing keeps varying from one style to another at lightning speed but it's justified for her role.

She's in simple salwar kameez one second. Next she's in a sari. Next she's wearing jeans and a tee. But, I had no qualms as it all makes sense in the end. But, what disappointed me was that every variation of her look was drab. Her salwars were boring. Her sarees were very typical. She didn't even look chic in the tees. And the low ponytails didn't help.



But, I loved this tiered lehenga from a song. The only chic outfit in the movie.

This blue and white lehenga could've been beautiful if it weren't for the ugly stripe running down the front of the blouse. I love the shade of blue though.

This lehenga that she wore in the end was very pretty. However, although the lehenga was beautiful the blouse looked washed out and got mixed with her skin. It did not look appealing. A different kind of gold would have done it. But it was looked gorgeous if it was a pop of colour.

All in all, it was an average show in the clothes department. Until next time folks. See you all later.

Have you found your Mr. Right yet?

Well I can say that I haven't found the Mr. Right. And there is no "The mr. Right" in this world. But, I guess I have found my Mr. Right and I am happy with him in spite of all his flaws. And I can definitely imagine the rest of my life with him. Because, I am not perfect either. And this is exactly what the movie "Main aur Mr Right" entails.

I didn't know about the movie until I watched it yesterday. It's a little gem of a movie, lost in an ocean of high- budgeted, commercial flicks. The girls' dressing in the movie really caught my eye. So, I decided to do a review.

Shenaz Treasurywala is dressed up chic and dolled up as Alia. She is portrayed as a perfectionist. She can't bear to see anything crooked or out of place. This character of hers however didn't quite come through in her clothes. Although I admit that she looked stylish, she just didn't look justified for the role.

Also, a lot of them were not very flattering to her body structure. They should've gone for a sleek look with blazers, pencil skirts and crisp shirts.  Instead we see her in frumpy dresses and tight dresses that look like they might rip when she sits. And other dresses make her look wide and shapeless.

Some of her outfits are great no doubt. I especially like this one outfit that she wears on a date with Abhay. Even the ponytail with the outfit was perfect and apt for the character. But through the rest of the movie, she has her hair left out in her usual "Shenaz" way, complete with the center parting and straight hair. I think the hairstyle is passé and she needs a makeover, at least for the sake of her movies. I was particularly vexed with her hair falling into her face through out the movie.

That's right, I did love a lot of her outfits. But, my only concern was that the outfits did not fit her on screen character.

Her friends on the other hand. Maia Sethna as Deeya is the obvious bimbo. Neha Gosain as Niyati is clearly the sweet housewife. Anagha Mane as Bani is an independent and bold girl. Their outifits were all in sync with their characters. So, it was a delight to watch.

I especially loved Shenaz's green sari with gold and silver accents. I liked the shade of green in particular and intend to give it a try.

Watched PK yesterday and OMG, it was a blast. I thought that it would be another of those movies that deal with psychological disorders. I was like, haven't we had enough of those already? But, I was pleasantly surprised to find that it was not. So, anyone that's been avoiding the movie for that reason, should watch it. It's a laugh riot. And I'm still giggling at the memories of some of the scenes. Hehe

And coming to Anushka Sharma's look! Well what can I say? She looked so fresh and so sweet that we could eat her up with a spoon.

The colours were crisp whites, pastels and light colours. Her make-up was natural. She could be a girl that we know and see everyday. Under the dewy freshness was a girl confident in her beliefs and ready to take on the world. I love the transition that she goes through in the movie while sticking to her personal style through out. Her dressing ranges from shorts to jeans, yet the casual nature of her tops and the simple layering makes up Jaggu.

In the beginning of the movie she is a chirpy, innocent student. She is girly and doesn't have a care in the world. Her youthfulness is portrayed by dressing her in soft florals and adding tiny hanging earrings that dance at the slightest movement of her head. She layers her tank tops and tees with simple knit cardigans when she wants to look serious. Her feminine girly dress is layered with a coat to add a bit of toughness to her. 

Later in the movie, when she takes on the role of a news reporter, her layers get more serious in the form of crisp cream coloured blazers and nude leather jackets. Her earrings too are longer and frame her face with their swing. She also has a touch of eyeliner for defined eyes.

But all through, the simple layering, and the colour palette remain constant. Also, what she wears at home doesn't change. And that makes absolute sense. She lounges in loose, oversized tees and shirts with comfy shorts. 

All in all, I loved her look and it was very apt for Jaggu to be wearing. I am inspired to buy those sweet, tiny hanging earrings. Although I doubt that they's do much for my face structure. Other than that the colour palette is a go, especially for the up coming Indian summer. Also watch out for her chunky watch that is feminine while looking tough at the same time.

This is one movie that I really enjoyed watching and reviewing. So, I hope that you guys like the review too. And do let me know your thoughts on Jaggu! Until later, love to you all. 

Fashion Shaukeen

Lisa Haydon in "Shaukeens" is the image of a girl who wouldn't change for anyone. She wears what she likes and is happy in it. Her dressing is bohemian and effortless. I loved her carefree street style.

Although her dressing is not my style and I wouldn't pick any of the pieces for myself, I suggest that people loving her style can opt for flowy fabrics, floral prints and breezy colours that are not too loud. Remember that skin show is not prime to this style. It can just as well be pulled off in clothes that you are comfortable in. You do not need to spend a bomb to pull it off and it's perfect for Indian weather.

One thing I loved is that she opted for covered bottoms when the top is skin baring and covered tops when the bottom is skin baring. This is the balance that prevents any outfit from looking cheap and vulgar and brings it to a level of elegance.

I heard that Lisa Haydon styled for herself with her own clothes for the movie. So, thumbs up to her for building up Ahana's character so well.

The Kill Dil way...

Parineeti Chopra in Kill Dil is portrayed as a femme fatale in black clothes, dark lips and wavy hair by Poorvi Mohan and Aki Narula.

No doubt Parineeti looked very beautiful. This is the first time that she has played up a glamorous role. Although she looked great, I couldn't help but feel that the styling looked too forced and overdone. They simply tried too hard for the femme fatale look. Her make-up wasn't in sync with the moto jacket and boots. And, on the whole it was plain awkward. And for the role of a confident, rich, smart girl, her dressing was a little childish to be honest.

Her outfits swing from high fashion, feminine to tomboyish in a rapid pace.

Now we all know that crop tops are the thing of today. But, if you want to give it a try, please do not do it the Parineeti way:

There is just too much wrong with the look. The crop top is too short, the skirt is too low riding to be paired with that top and the hemline is too short. Disaster! Either the top should've been longer or the skirt should've been high waisted and longer. The trend is to show a slice of your abdomen and not about putting your entire tummy out there for display. This look is just borderline vulgar.

Secondly, this look of hers in the song "Bol Beliya":

There is just soo much wrong here once again. Yellow dress, yellow lighting, yellow drapes and a skin tight outfit with gold jewellery! She looks so washed out. She doesn't stand out. The dress mixes up with her skin colour and the background. In other words a total fail. Parineeti herself looks gorgeous, if only it weren't for that dress. Either her dress shoould've been well flared and voluminous or it should've been a different colour. Please girls, this one is not something you want to try out. This just makes me tearful.

One thing I loved:

Those ear cuffs....swoon. Ear cuffs are totally in and I give the stylist a thumbs up for using them here. Even more chic would have been using a single ear cuff. But, I'm all set to invest in some right now.

All in all, I felt that the styling in this movie was off. The outfits lacked elegance. Not impressed. 

Happy New Year....Oops it's not new year yet.

So, I'm going to skip the celebrations and work on reviewing "Happy New Year" movie's styling.

Deepika Padukone rocked a glitzy, over the top look in this movie. Styled by Manish Malhotra, I wouldn't have expected anything less. I really loved this particular blue mirror work lehenga. The colour is just splendid. It's a nice relief from all the pinks, reds and oranges we see around. I think we will be seeing a lot of this blue trickling down our local weddings! So watch out for it.

I liked her team India outfits and her on-stage dance costumes. She looked very cute in them. Notice the fedora hat!

However, when she is not glamed up or loud, her wardrobe yo-yos from anarkali suits to dhoti pants to woven sarees. Perhaps they wanted her to be seen in an array of clothes. But, whatever may be the case, I found it very inconsistent and difficult to form a strong image of her character in my mind.

Lastly I really dig this blouse that Deepika wore in her introduction song. I can just imagine pairing it with a flowy black saree...*daydreams* Totally borrow everyone!

Time for some regional flavour

Here goes my review for Govindudu Andarivadele.

The movie's cast and their dressing screamed rural Andhra loud and clear. Everything was vibrant and colourful just like every Indian village is. 

Kajal Agarwal's styling in the movie was only good as far as her Indian attire went. Yet, her lehengas were nothing very trend setting or new. A couple of her half sarees were pretty, but that's all they were. It was full of decade old styles and colours that were very uninspiring and old school. Her outfit in the introduction scene itself was very unflattering and some of her chudidars were just drab. 

Kamalini Mukherjee as the village belle looked perfect. Athough her half sarees were simple, they were full of fresh colour combinations and were cooling to the eyes. It felt pleasant every time she came onto the screen.

Abhiram's sister in the movie was cute in her colourful hats. Loved her look as the young and bubbly sister.

It was clear that their styling ran on a low budget, perhaps because of the wide cast. However everyone looked natural and role appropriate. The only downer was that Kajal looked plain boring.

Bang Bang

Hey again! I'm back this time to review Katrina Kaif's styling in Bang Bang.

Katrina's role as Harleen who is your average girl next door, rather, "receptionist" next door, was quite natural looking with neutral hues and easy to find styles. But, unfortunately her dressing was a tad too basic.

I think anyone can look like her on a lazy day. Just throw on a pair or jeans, a tunic and an oversized knit cardigan over it and you are set to go.

Anaita Shroff also packed together all of Katrina's stereotypical styles other than what her character required.

As a rule of thumb, Katrina has to be seen in a feminine flowy gown in all her movies and they put her in a pretty orange gown somewhere down the movie. Quite expected...Zzz. Oh and she needs to be seen in a couple of girly summer dresses...Check. And not to forget the bikini and hot pants... Check, check!

I'm sure they intended to make her look as receptionist as possible, but if that was the case, I would have liked them to stick to that image at the very least without zipping her into a couture gown out of the blue.

While some of the outfits in the songs were gorgeous and some uber cool, others were very unflattering and looked awkward on Katrina. And that is saying a lot seeing that she looks great in just about anything.

Katrina Kaif looked pretty as usual and nothing out of the usual. So, for that I give this one the snooze.

This mismatched look simply rocks

Hiya folks! Here I go with my first review. Excuse me for any typos or mistakes. Hey, this is my first time afterall… And, I chose Khoobsurat for my first post simply because of it’s wacky styling.

When I first saw the posters and read the movie’s summary, nothing fell into place. I could make  no sense of how a middle-class physiotherapist and all the vibrant outfits jelled together. But, when I saw the movie, everything fell into place.

Sonam Kapoor’s dressing in the movie was all over the place. It didn’t have any one defined style. One minute she is all quirky and whacky in mismatched layers. Next thing, she is street chic. And later, she is boho. Her color palette too goes from earthy Indian shades to all the latest couture hues (Orchid!). I loved some of the looks and hated some. While some were easily wearable. Some were too randomly strewn together to be worn by anyone other than Mili.  But, Sonam Kapoor carried every one of them with such élan that the outfits each told a story of their own and thus helped build Mili.

Things that caught my eye were the slouchy look, bracelets, quirky prints, scarves, bright jackets and the sneakers! And, I love all of them. Although I would have preferred to see a definitive style on the character, I guess it all made sense on Mili . And hey, who doesn’t have their share of lazy days when their style goes out of the window (Well, I do. Please tell me that you do as well :P) 

Ratna Pathak Shah's wardrobe however could have been upped a notch. Perhaps her saris reflected the queen’s state of mind. But, even so, the dark hues overshadowed her personality. They could have been a tad more clean and fresh with the colors she wore.

And, Kirron Kher was a sweet heart as Manju. From her crisp dupattas to her silver jewelry, everything made her stand out as the perfect Punjabi mother. Whites, pastels and sunshiny colors made up her energetic personality.

Overall, every frame had a vibrancy to it, thanks to the styling. I could see that Karuna Laungani did the best that she could for Mili. I would love to borrow some of Mili’s outfits. Like the hi lo yellow shirt with the white trousers. Also, the Dhoti pants with the cropped jackets are simply muah!
